In February 2018, the International Master Course on Aging Science (IMCAS) celebrated its 20th anniversary of the Annual World Congress in Paris, France. Having started out as such a simple idea – to merge dermatology, plastic surgery and aesthetic science for the mutual benefit of all specialties – this was an important milestone for IMCAS.
Not one to rest on its laurels, the congress has continued to expand internationally. Each year IMCAS travels to exotic locations to bring knowledge to colleagues around the world. Based on the success of the first edition of IMCAS Americas, which took place in Cancun, Mexico in 2017, the second annual congress is venturing into South America from March 15 – 17, 2018. Approximately 1,000 dermatologists, plastic surgeons and other aesthetic professionals will gather in Cartagena de Indias, the historical coastal town in northern Colombia, for three days of scientific education and networking.
According to Alessandra Nogueira, M.D., a dermatologist in Brazil, the inaugural “IMCAS Americas congress raised the bar for scientific events in Latin America with a great educational agenda and a renowned team of speakers from all over the world. It was a pleasure to be part of this amazing event.”
In keeping with their high standards, IMCAS’s first priority is the quality of the scientific content. This year IMCAS has collaborated with a number of educational societies throughout the Americas and beyond, and is working with over 100 leading international expert speakers to deliver a program centered around the latest techniques, along with research and developments in the aesthetic field.
Notably, the program will have a distinctly Latin American feel, focusing on procedures and themes that are in demand in this region, including buttock augmentation, breast surgery and injectables. As well as these staples of the region, sessions will explore 12 other key themes, including clinical dermatology, laser and energy-based devices, face surgery, cosmeceuticals and professional business. Throughout the congress, sessions will explore Latin American and European points of views, and delve deep into the differences between regions.
Among the scientific sessions, attendees will also have a chance to discover the most cutting edge products and devices. In the exhibit hall, throughout symposia and during live demonstrations, international companies will be showcasing their innovations. There will also be a strong presence from local companies and distributors, making IMCAS Americas the perfect place to build your regional connections.
The congress will be held in the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center in the center of the city’s historic district, a short distance from the airport, hotels, restaurants and shopping areas. Cartagena itself, with its stunning coastline, provides a beautiful backdrop for the learning and socializing that IMCAS congresses are known for.
While waiting for IMCAS Americas physicians and aesthetic professionals are invited to brush up their skills through the IMCAS Academy. This online learning platform has close to 2,000 lectures on 15 themes, with more added after each congress. In addition, the innovative IMCAS Alert global platform was recently launched, enabling physicians to easily and quickly receive advice on their complicated cases from experts around the world.
